Envision a scenario where there is no longer any “cash” in today’s sense, and therefore employers have to come up with alternative payment methods to compensate their employees: cryptocurrencies, NFTs, or other alternative payment methods (remuneration in kind, etc.). We want to explore to what extent today’s legal and regulatory framework allows to make alternative payment methods to employees possible across continents and why (or why not), evaluate what changes would be required to improve employer’s flexibility in the future and find possible solutions.
